During the week, a leading podcast reviewer contacted me, almost 4 years to the day since I’d sent them the link to a limited podcast series I made at the time. They were after an interview, talking about the old series, that would feature in their podcast magazine that’s given away with one of the Sunday broadsheets. The exposure would’ve been huge, but I wasn’t interested.
4 years. A limited series that’s come and gone. Another below the radar piece of work. What’s the point? I told them so. I made the point that loads of old indie podcasters like me have given up and moved on. One look at their website showed them, unsurprisingly, to be taken with mainstream, big-name fronted shows. Mind you, in their defence, these days, that’s pretty much what’s left in podcasting, so if you’re going to be writing about it, chances are there’s no other type of creator to write about. I was comfortable with my decision.
